The USA, Canada, and Mexico beat out Morocco in their bid to host the 2026 World Cup.
Morocco argued that their country had a ban on weapons and that their ticket prices would remain low to encourage fans to attend.
The North American bid was aided by their current infrastructure. Combined they have 23 stadiums built or under construction. Morocco has 14 stadiums, all of which would need extensive renovations.
Additionally, a North American bid would produce approximately $11 billion in profit versus $5.7 billion if the event were held in Morocco.
Morocco focused its pitch on their "fan friendly" approach, particularly emphasizing the difference in ticket price. Ticket prices in North American will be set at $431.
