As the Fox & Friends team continue to defend Donald Trump's "zero tolerance" immigration policies, co-host Brian Kilmeade has been quoted saying "it's not like he's doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas".
In full, Kilmeade stated, "These aren't our kids. Show them compassion, but it's not like he's doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas. These are people from another country." After receiving criticism, Kilmeade attempted to backtrack his words on Twitter by saying that all kids are special and important.
"I didn’t mean to make it seem like children coming into the U.S. illegally are less important because they live in another country," Kilmeade further added.
Over 2,000 children have been separated from their parents over the last six weeks, with both the Trump administration and Fox News making sweeping statements in its defense.
